Its the homestretch!!

Ahh the end is very near!! I can feel it!! Now that the weather is actually nice too, I am really checked out.  All I want to do is be outside!! This weekend was mostly spent outside because it was so nice out.  Bonfires,  the football scrimmage  softball games, and sunburns can sum up the weekend.  But it was a fun one as next weekend will consist of studying and writing papers.  Barf.  Finals, don't remind me.  But I don't have too many of them, so I should be in good shape.  I work some more this week here too, so that will be a good thing to get my mind from being fried!
I cannot wait to have a break from school here in a few weeks for a few weeks.  Then it starts back up again!! I cant seem to get away!! But its all for the best, I have to get into grad school!!! Scary that it is almost 1 year away...

The picture above is one from a bonfire we went to this weekend and to the side here is my roommates and I at the spring football game before we got fried!

Dance Team banquet!

We just had our end of the year Dance Team banquet on Thursday and it was a fun and sad one!! We all got dressed up in fancy dresses and went out to eat at Caldo on main street   It was pretty good food, if any one is wanting to go there.  And as you can kind of see jean jackets were the thing to wear... unfortunately I wasn't informed of this.  Darn it.

Our advisor, Erin, gave all the seniors and graduating members a cute gift and she announced the captains for the following year.  I am happy to inform you, that I will be one of the 3 captains for the SMSU Dance Team for the 2013-2014 season! I am very excited to see what it will bring and hopefully we get a lot of new girls to join the team! Can it be the fall already please? I miss practice already!

The 2012-13 captains and 2013-14 captains!!

Its crazy to think that I only have one more year left dancing on a dance team... I have been on a team since 7th grade and dancing since I was 3! AHHH! Growing up is so scary, and I don't know if I am ready for it. But, I have to say that I am very excited to someday coach a team as wonderful as the team that I am on today!!

Freshmen Registration

It is that time of year again, FRESHMEN REGISTRATION!!! I love working this event.  It is so  much fun to see all the new people that will be coming here in the fall!! And it also means that we are almost done with school too.  But, it is soo much fun to see how nervous and excited they all are.  I can remember back to when I came for registration.  I am still friends with some of the people that I had met that day, and I still have and use the folder that they give you!  Its crazy to think how much I have changed in 3  years, and how is many ways I am still very much the same.  I can only hope that these newbies here to SMSU have as much fun as I have had and are having, and I hope that maybe I will get to be friends with some of them.  Freshmen year is a year that is crazy, and I wasn't expecting it at all.  And when people say to enjoy your college years because they fly by, they mean  it.  I feel like I just graduated high school like 2 months ago, and here I am a registered senior in college.  INSANE!!

I helped out on Friday at this event doing multiple things.  Recruiting kiddos to live in the Mustang Traditions dorm here in the fall.  I lived there for 2 years, and made a ton of great friendships and memories.  I had a blast and wouldn't have traded it for the world.  I would totally recommend a freshmen to live there if they are at all outgoing and wanting to meet a whole bunch of new people.  I also wondered around and talked to a bunch of the parents about things, and that is fun to just give your own opinions of things and de-stress the parents about their kids going to college a bit.  And then checkout is my favorite, because they have all just registered for classes  figured out where they are living and who with, and are so exited to start! I love chatting with them about those things.

Since I worked in the Mustang Traditions dorm last year, I put together a video of the pictures that we took over the years to hopefully show kids how much fun we have!

New Job!

I recently was hired at Key Largo Bar and Grill in Slayton, MN for the summer!  Now this is my first waitressing job, so if you have any pointers at all, please let me know!! I am extremely nervous for my first day here next week, as I have been studying the menu all the time it seems like.  It looks like a really fun place to work and eat at! I hope I can do well there and make a decent living this summer and have a little bit on fun.  If I have time... So, if anyone is in Marshall for the summer and want to try somewhere new to eat, I would recommend Key Largo! Its about 30 minutes from Marshall, which isn't too bad if you are sick of going to the same old Apple-bee's all the time.  Oh! And if anyone knows of anyone needing a babysitter, send them my way! Always looking for a few extra bucks :]

Busy Weekend!

This weekend I went home for a few different reasons, and it was a jam-packed weekend! After worring about if the weather was going to clear up so that I could make it home in once piece on Friday, I was rushing back in the same fashion hoping to miss the weather once again.

Friday right when I got home, My mom and I went to one of our family friends restaurants, Nightingale.  It is a super cool restaurant with fun food and a lot of cool original drinks! If you are ever in Minneapolis and want to try something different, I highly recommend it.

Then Saturday, I was up before the sun it seemed! We had to get up early to get ready for my sisters Conformation at the Cathedral of St.Paul in St.Paul.  Such a beautiful church ( I will post a picture below) and a really nice and packed service.  I think almost 200 kids were confirmed that morning by the Archbishop, which is pretty cool.  It was too cold out though to wear cute sandals to Church! Dang snow! Then later that night we went to Macaroni Grill for dinner to celebrate my sisters birthday, which was on Sunday.

Sunday was another early day, as we had to go to church again so that my sister could be presented to everyone along with her class.  Not as early as Saturday, but I still didn't get to sleep in this weekend! It was my sisters birthday too, so we went out to breakfast after church with some of our family.  Then the drive back here was horrible! Snow and ice in the city, and rain the whole rest of the way.

SNOW WEEK!

I totally should have done this when school got cancelled, but here I am on a Sunday evening... This week was crazy with how much snow we got and how much school got cancelled!! I kinda started to cry when all the snow started, but then we school started to get cancelled, I was ok with it :] But now I am stuck studying for 2 back to back tests tomorrow, and preparing for a presentation! Mondays are already tough as it is, and this isn't going to help my situation at all.  So snow, you are a bittersweet thing. And spring, you need to hurry up and get here so I can wear all my cute sandals and dresses!!

Oh, and I got suck in the parking lot too!! This snow was so heavy and wet, that I actually heard on a weather report not to shovel it.  I think they were talking about the senior citizens, because they talked about people having heart attacks because it was so heavy.  CRAZY! And in Minneapolis, they couldn't declare a snow emergency because  it is a city ordinance that after April 1st, you can no longer do that.  And let me tell you, I was downtown Minneapolis this weekend and it is a mess down there with all the snow.

So here's hoping to a quick melt and for spring to be here!! I wanna watch some baseball!!

Almost Summer!!!

I cannot believe that another school year is almost gone.  I really didn't believe that college went by so fast when people told me to enjoy it, but it really does!! My junior year almost gone and one more left here at SMSU is really hard to wrap my head around.  And now seeing a lot of my friends and peers graduating this year, it is going to be weird being the old ones on campus!

Summer is another story.  In a way, I don't want it to come because I have to do so much. Besides moving down here for the summer, I have to work, do a lot of service hours to even apply to grad school, apply to grad school, take the GRE test, and manage to maybe have a social life and go home to see my family? Too much, not enough time!! Oh and I am taking 6 credits this summer too. Goodbye free time! I am going to go crazy here with the to-do list that keeps getting longer by the day.

I do have my New York trip to look forward too!! Here in 33 days I will be boarding a plane headed to NYC and I couldn't be more excited!!! My mom just got us tickets to see a taping of the Jimmy Fallon show one day when we are there.  I am stoked!

Relay For Life!

On Friday it was SMSU's annual Relay for Life, a fundraiser to help stop cancer.  I didn't have a team this year, but all my roommates were going and on teams, so I decided to go  check it out for a bit.  I did relay in high school too, and we went all night.  From 6 pm to 6 am, and walked the track around the football field.  I really enjoyed it when it was outside.  Here at SMSU it is inside, which is ok but walking outside is more fun I think.  I didn't stay long, but they had a lot of people and different booths! My family thankfully has not been affected by cancer, but I know a lot of people who's families have.  This event is an awesome and fun way to raise money for those people so they can get the best treatment and care possible, and to hopefully find a cure for cancer here in the near future!! They had a lot for the walkers to do all night, from musical performances, to fin scavenger hunt games and cool prizes.  I do regret not having a team this year and staying the whole time, because it is really fun and all for a really good cause.  Next year is quickly approaching and I will just have to try it then!!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! I am here in Marshall this Easter, my family wasn't doing anything special for Easter and I have to go home in 2 weeks for my sisters conformation.  So my mom just told me to stay here and save my money.  But the Easter Bunny did send my basket down here!! I was fun to get a package from home since I haven't really had one this year yet.  Thanks Easter Bunny!! here is a picture of what i got-
a new fun scarf to wear, new makeup, an iTunes card, and my favorite jelly beans of all time!  Otherwise it was a really quiet weekend here on campus.  Almost everyone went home, and I was okay with that.  I love having weekends where you don't have to do anything, and after the week that I just had, it was very much needed.  Clean the apartment a bit, and to catch up on sleep was really all I had planned. And I checked both of those off my list!!

Anyways, I hope you all had a great Easter weekend!!

House hunting...

Who knew looking for a place to live was so hard.  Next year I will be living off campus, and finally have found somewhere to live with friends.  My friend Lexi and I will be living in a duplex next year with a few of our other teammates.  It should be really fun!! Now, we just have to furnish the place... I am staying here in Marshall over the summer, so it can kind of be a work in progress project, but I still want a couch to sit on! But, it will all turn out fine! I just have to worry about getting a job for the summer and next year now, and getting all my hours done before I can apply to grad school.  Ah so much to do!! Growing up is hard sometimes. But I am excited to see where life takes me.

Also, if anyone is interested in getting a new SMSU sweatshirt  Students Today Alumni Tomorrow is selling these cool full zip-ups for $50!! I know, kinda spendy, but they are really nice quality and the design is embroidered on rather than screen-printed.

Puzzling thought...

So while everyone was all warm in the sun on the beach over break, I was at home.  Doing puzzles, with my grandma.  But, I really enjoyed it! I would rather do a puzzle than play a video game any day, and I got to have some quality time with my grandma.  I went to Target on Monday and bought a 1000 piece puzzle, and we almost finished it!! We were soo darn close and it kinda ticks me off that we didn't finish it, but it will be there next time that I am home.  We have this cool puzzle mat thing, that you do your puzzle on and can just roll it up when you are finished! Its a very slick thing, and my mom likes it so the puzzle doesn't have to lay out all the time.

This summer, my job was pretty boring so I had to entertain myself somehow, so I found this website- Jidigi.  Its a cool site where you can do jigsaw puzzles online and even create your own! I love it and it was awesome to pass the time at work when it was slow.  I love colorful puzzles, ones that have a lot going on and the more pieces the better! I could sit and do these for hours if the day allowed it.

My grandma says I should just get puzzles from the goodwill or thrift shop, but what if they are missing pieces? That would throw me off big time.  Looking for that one edge piece the whole time to come to find out that it is missing? I would be pretty mad. But it is a good idea, in theory

I hope I like doing puzzles for a long time.  They are  good for the brain and I hope that it helps later in life!

Awesome Cupcakes

Well, back to reality once again as we close out another spring break.  Mine was pretty uneventful as I didnt go anywhere warm to get a nice tan.  Very jealous of all that did, and I hope to next year!!

On Friday, we had all of the ladies that are joining us for the NYC trip in May over for dinner and to plan out what we wanted to do.  So I made these awesome cupcakes (if I do say so myself :] ) and they were a hit!! They were salted caramel cupcakes that were dripping with caramel and frosted with a caramel butter-cream!! Soo delicious.  Here is the recipe! Salted Caramel Cupcakes!  This recipe makes so much caramel that we saved the extra and it is awesome on ice cream later.  And it is really easy to make! No burnt or super thick caramel! And then when you sprinkle the sea salt on top, ohhhh that's even better! Here is what the cupcakes look like

My mom also made these really good fish tacos, and the fish wasn't fried.  I didn't think that i would like them because it was just marinated fish, but they were really good! With a corn salsa, it was very tasty

I am actually kind of excited to get back into the swing of things here and finish this year off strong.  I hope you all had a wonderful break and have a good week back at school!

Lets go to the movies!

Has anyone seen any good movies lately? I am dying to see a movie in theaters. I love the popcorn and how loud the theater is, I could go to a movie everyday if my budget allowed it! But sadly it doesn't, so I will just have to go when on discount nights.  I am really wanting to see the new Nicolas Sparks movie Safe Haven.  I have heard that it is super good, so I am hoping to see it over break here when we have a little free time. In the theater my favorite snack is the ICEE.  I want the biggest one you can get because they are the best part of the movie! No need for candy when you have a slushy and salty popcorn, but if I were to choose it would be either Junior Mints or Butterfinger Minis.  So good! It is making me want to go now!!

I am really wanting to see Lincoln, Identity Theft, Silver Linings Playbook, and a few others.  If they are good, let me know! Hopefully they will be at the discount theater back at home so I can see multiple :]

One of my favorite movies is the Music Man.  I love musicals (I probably have mentioned it many times before, sorry!) and this one is a classic.  I loved watching it with my grandpa because we would sing along like we were in the movie!! I also like the sappy movies like any other girl, the lucky one, p.s. I love you- you catch my drift.  I also am really enjoying the movie Pitch Perfect.  It is hilarious if you haven't seen it yet.  It is one that everyone (if they are old enough) should see. Fat Amy makes the movie and the musical numbers are fabulous as well.  They need to make a sequel to pitch perfect just because it is that funny.
What is your favorite movie?

is spring around the corner?

I feel like we have been in this winter wonderland for about 14 years!! Is spring ever going to come? Its supposed to snow 3-9 inches today, thats a little extreme for this time of year if you are to ask me.  I want sunshine and daisies and time out on the lake to be here because winter is taking too long!! Everything goes so much slower in the winter- school, driving, walking, you name it.  I am a girl on the move and it slows me down!! But winter is very pretty I must say.

I love painting my nails. It is like my therapy.  Not sure if I have talked about this before, but, I am in love with polish.  I would say I have over 100 different polishes that I love very dearly.  I wish I could do fun designs on them like the manicurists at the salon do, but I am not that talented with my left hand.  I just like a lot of sparkles and fun colors to go with the seasons or not sometimes! I love wearing a bight color in the winter when you the color trend is darker and warmer colors.  Like  today! I have painted them a bright blue waiting for the warmth of the sun to arrive!!

I hope you all are staying warm in this chilly snowy weather!!

the world these days...

I realize that this weeks assignment was on videos too, but I saw this one on Facebook and bawled like a baby!! It is so inspirational and cool how people can be so selfless and caring.  That is something we don't see a lot of these days I think.  Here is the link to the video that I am referring too, Awesome story!

I think that we have become such a "me" society, and we really forget about those around us.  I am guilty of this too, it just occurred to me as I watched that video and I was reading an article online about random kindness too.  I think we all should pay it forward at least once a day.  (And if you haven't seen the movie pay it forward, please go rent it! Its a good story!)  I think yes, in Minnesota and in smaller towns people are a lot friendlier but, there are always those few that ruin it for everyone.  I love when I walk down the street to go wait for the bus when I am at home and there is the same little old lady there and she says good morning to me every day! How come we all don't do that? It just brightens up that persons day so much more that it is worth that small bit of energy.

Anyways, that's the end of my rant.  It was just something that came to mind suddenly and I thought I would share!

Broadway Baby

I love musicals.  If my life were a musical, I would be the happiest girl alive. That would only happen if I could carry a decent tune too.  I have been looking at what will be playing while we are in New York in the spring and I am getting so excited!! Every year its one of our gifts from our Grandma to go see a show downtown Minneapolis and go out to dinner and it is one of my most favorite traditions ever.  Getting dressed up going to a fun restaurant downtown and then to a show is the best, I cannot wait to go in New York is unreal.  My favorite musical I have ever seen is probably Billy Elliot the Musical.  It is based on the movie (if you haven't seen it, rent it because it is so good), and the choreography in it is amazing.  I am so amazed at how the little boy that plays Billy can dance so well and perform on a nightly basis.  I would love that life.  Here is a song from the show, probably my favorite song from the show!

Other than this show I loved Hairspray the Musical (not the movie, that show- its a million times better), or the Lion King was also soooooo good.  Every kid should see the Lion King musical once in their life because it follows the movie so well, and the animals/puppets are amazing!!

I was in musicals in High School, but I was only in the Chorus because I could dance... Singing is not my specialty  But I loved it and like I said earlier, if I could start earlier I would totally be a Broadway star!! The   TV show SMASH is amazing because it shows (dramatically) the behind the scenes of the business, and I love it.

So if you have any suggestions, you should totally let me know because I am game it see anything!!

NEW YORK!!

I AM GOING TO NEW YORK CITY IN MAY!! I am sooo excited if you cannot tell. My parents, grandma and family friend, Donna, came down this weekend and surprised me with it.  I thought I was going to Las Vegas in May, because it was a tradition to take the kid that has turned 21 in the spring.  But, they decided to switch it up and go to NYC instead  and I could not be more excited! My parents planned on coming down last weekend for my birthday, but the weather was so bad they postponed it.  Today isn't much better, but they still came down and it was a much needed trip.  I haven't seen them since winter break, and I loved having them here for just the short while that they were here.

This is how my Grandma suprised me!

If anyone is needing a cupcake, let me know! I have plenty!! And they are quite good.  Target has some good frosting.
Anyone have ideas of what to do in NYC? I have never been, and want some ideas! We are going to go to the resturant Serendipity's because i have heard their frozen hot chocolate is to die for.  Also, my mom is looking into getting tickets to see a taping of Jimmy Fallon.  I really want to see a Broadway show too, so I hope some good ones are playing!!
I hope you are all doing well!

Basketball weekend!

This long weekend was much needed.  I feel like I have been swimming in homework with the end no where in sight.  I loved not doing too much this weekend and just being able to catch up in all of my classes here before things get crazy again!
This week the SMSU Dance Team hosted a kids camp on Friday afternoon for kids in kindergarten through fourth grade.  It is one of our biggest fundraisers for the year, and we have a lot of fun doing it!  This time around we had a small group, part I think because it was a long weekend and people like to vacation on Presidents weekend.  But none the less, we had a blast!! The girls come on Friday afternoon for two and a half hours to learn a dance and have a good time with the team.  Then they come back on Saturday to perform the dance they learned at half time of the women's game.  It is so much fun to see them out there having a blast and seeing the crowd cheer them on.  They feel like they are apart of the team and it is awesome! They go through the whole game day experience with us, from warm-up in the studio to our sideline pep talk, and then performing.  I totally wish that I had the opportunity to do this as a kid, I would have loved it.

The whole team and our mini dancers!
Then at the men's game that evening, it was the last performance of 3 of our teammates as they will be graduating here in the spring.  Such a sad moment as we walked off the court knowing that I will not get the chance to dance with them again as they are some awesome ladies and I will miss them so very much.  I hate loosing such awesome dancers and people, but I know that they are all off to bigger and better things, but they all still better visit once and awhile! I can't help thinking how much of a wreck I am going to be next year around this time, as it will be my last performances too.  I have been on a dance team since 7th grade, so to not be on one will be really weird and I don't like thinking about it much.

Senior Night! <3

I hope you all are doing wonderful!!

Happy Birthday!!

I am 21.  Sounds kinda weird to say! I am going to embrace this age like I have never before, and it will be the best year yet!! I was so happy that I got to celebrate it with my close friends and teammates  and they did make it the best birthday yet!! My family was supposed to come down for the day as well, but you know with this awesome snow storm, they weren't able to make it down.  I wake up to my door being decorated, and the apartment as well (thanks roommates!!), then later I was surprised by my team because they decorated my door to the apartment! I received some awesome cupcakes AND a cake, so if anyone is hungry stop on by and you can have a piece because I have a lot of cake!!
We then tried going to Applebees for dinner last night, half-off apps are the best, but they were closing early due to the storm. Lame. So we went to the pub instead, and had a grand ole time!! It was really fun and I hope my friends had a good time as well.
Hoping that you all are having a fabulous snowy day!! :]

Dance filled week!

This weekend we performed our annual Boy/Girl Dance at halftime of the mens game.  It is one of the most fun things that we do all year, and I think the guys enjoy it as well.  My partner this year was my friend Craig,  and we had a blast!! It starts off on Wednesday, when the boys come to practice and get to experience what dance team practice is all about.  People think dance is easy, but you better think twice!! It is a lot of work! Anyways, we go though or stretching routine and then we starting learning the routine.  Performance night was jersey themed, so the songs were all themed around basketball.  I think they really enjoyed that instead of some slower more jazzy type music.  It was very impressive that they learned the whole dance in about an hour in a half, and we still had time to laugh and have fun! Then on Thursday, we had a quick practice just to refresh everyones memories so they wouldnt forget.  Then Friday was gameday!! We had a quick practice in the RA gym early in the afternoon so that the boys could get used to dancing in a bigger space than in the small studio.  I was again very impress how they adapted and remember the dance so well!! We met back in the studio later in the evening, all dressed and ready to go! The boys all wore different basketball jerseys so that they could act like real players.  After warm up we headed down to the gym to watch the first half and perform at halftime.  The guys did so good and the crowd absolutely loved it.  It was probably the best one yet! Here is the video so you all can see for yourself :] haha

Well, its my 21st birthday tomorrow, so I am off to bed because it will be an interesting day! Have a good night! :]

Pinterest night!

Ahh what a weekend!! It was pretty a pretty busy weekend in my apartment   First off, I would like to note that the groundhog didn't see his shadow, EARLY SPRING for us!! WOOO!!! I cannot wait to get out of this arctic weather.  Anyways, Saturday we woke up pretty early and went to a bowling fundraiser for the Social Work club.  It was a fun time with my roommates  and I clearly cannot bowl because I don't think I broke 100 in either game.  But it was for a good cause and it was fun, so it doesn't matter! Then we drove out to Lynd for the evening to have a "Pictures and Pinterest Party!!"  My roommate Casie, her cousin is a photographer (Amy Rose Photography) and she is really good, go check her website out! We went out to her studio, and did some fun roommate photos for valentines day. Here is one of our proofs!
Then we went to her house and had this awesome Taco Bake.  You take 2 rolls of crescent rolls and place them on a bottom of a 9x13 pan.  You bake them for 5 minutes so they don't get soggy.  Then you prepare taco meat on the stove top like you would normally.  When the crust is done, you put the taco meat down, then a layer of sour cream.  After that you crush up some Doritos to cover the pan, that totally cover the chips with cheese.  You bake it for 20 more minutes, and tada! A delish dinner that is quick and easy.  We put lettuce and salsa on ours to make more taco like.  I know it inst the most healthful of foods, but it was super good!!

Then we went on to make our own painted glasses.  It was really easy as well.  We just bought a set of glasses from Walmart, and some acrylic craft paint and just painted away on the glasses! After that you bake them for 30 minutes at 350 degrees and then leave them in there until the oven cools off.

After that we all painted our nails, pinterest style!! I have an extensive nail polish collection that I love dearly, and I went to the store an got some cool stickers and tools to make awesome designs.  I absolutely love painting my nails, so this was probably my favorite activity of the night.  Here is my nail polish design for this weekend!

Then, we exfoliated out lips.  I know, it sounds weird, but it really works! We just used a small amount of honey and regular white sugar, mixed it together and rubbed it on our lips for a few minutes and then just rinsed it off.  Great for the winter to get off all of the dry skin!

The last thing we made on Saturday was these cool braided headbands.  We cut up old t shirts and did this cool 5 strand braid.  Mine was just plain gold colored, the other did gray and black or like a pink and white combo.  Here is a link to the tutorial  we did this except for the flower... we didn't bring any fabric.  They are still super cute! 5-Strand Braided Headband

Busy Saturday, and now a homework filled Sunday before the SUPERBOWL! excited to see Beyonce at halftime, and even more excited for the awesome food! Talk to you guys later!!

Too cold...

Well, it is to cold out to do anything! I just want to stay in my apartment all day cuddled up in a blanket with good movies and not worry about going anywhere.  I would be okay with spring coming any day now!! I hope the groundhog doesn't see his shadow on the 2nd so we get to have an early spring. Wishful thinking I know... but it would be really nice!

I am glad this week has kinda been a chill week, because after running around all last week, I am pooped!  I just wish that classes would have been cancelled this week because it was honestly too cold to walk outside to the school.  And it would have been a nice break :]

Here are the videos of our dances that we did Hawaiian weekend.  It was so much fun to perform these and see the crowds reaction! It was a lot of hard work to choreograph these as a team, but I think we did a pretty good job-- if I do say so my self!! :]

SMSU Dance Team Jazz- Locked Out of Heaven 2013

Here is the link to our Hip Hop dance (I can't embed it because out music copyrights...)

HAWAIIAN WEEK!!!

WOW. What a week. Sorry I have posted in a while, this week has been absolutely nuts!! And it was a short week! It felt like it was 4 weeks long but I loved every minute of it. Hawaiian Week- if you aren't sure what it is- is basically our winter homecoming.  The week started off with a fun Mentalist show.  Eric Dittelman was the mentalist and he was crazy good! I couldn't believe how he could tell what you were thinking or predict the outcomes of certain tricks.  It was amazing!  On Wednesday  you could get a free haircut in the SC done by the cosmetology school in Pipestone.  Thursday there there was a 90's dance, and it was super fun to dance the night away and blow off some steam! Then on Friday  the weekend of basketball started!! (my favorite part! :] )  Friday we played Upper Iowa, and then Saturday we played Winona.

In the midst of all these activities, I had dance practice every evening! I don't think I sat down for more than 20 minutes, or so it seemed.  But we worked out behinds off and we looked amazing this weekend!! (videos to come shortly!)  The crowd loved our dances and it feels amazing to know that people do watch and care about us!! It was definitely a struggle to get to this weekend and to be able to even perform at the games, but in the end everything worked out and we got to perform!! And it was the best feeling ever!! I love my team so much!

Also on Saturday, we had to give tours to prospective students.  Hawaiian night tours are some of the most fun tours to give during the school year because everyone is so excited for the game that evening and it the energy is nuts! To the left here is a picture of all the SMSU Ambassadors getting ready for Hawaiian Night tours! We all love to dress up in our leis to show our school spirit!

My roomate, Casie and I before tours!
Happy Hawaiian Night!

So, thats all for now! I am sure more pictures and videos are to come here as they are added to Facebook  I hope you all had a great weekend as well!

first time blogger!

Well this is definitely an interesting experience... but I think blogging will be fun!

I am a dance team fanatic.  I love going to competitions, watching other teams, watching videos online, and being on a dance team.  And this weekend is the UDA College and High School National Competition in FL! I wish I could be there and see all the amazing teams in person, but i guess watching online will have to do for now.  One day I WILL coach a nationally ranked and winning team, it is one of my goals in life! How cool would it be to say that you were apart of a team that was the best in the whole country? I think that would be awesome.  And I will be one of those crazy coaches that jumps around and cheers for her team like no other!
This video is what I aspire to be someday :] haha (not really the lady that cries though... thats a bit dramatic)

I love being on a team too. I get to see some of my best friends almost everyday and I get to dance all at the same time! Its the best!! Here at SMSU, we are just a club too, so we don't have a coach.  It is a student lead team and we are pretty good- if I do say so myself- for not having a coach and making up all of our own routines.  We do have an awesome advisor that helps us out a ton, we couldn't do it all with out her!  I am really super excited for next week, because its HAWAIIAN NIGHT!  We perform at all the basketball games next weekend, and it is an absolute blast.  It is crazy chaotic, but I love it.  Come check it out if you are in town!

This is my wonderful dance team!!

The first week of classes is almost done, and I am very ready for this long weekend.  Even though it is going to be freezing out side, it will be perfect inside to chill with my roommates and watch movies!
